Relocate to Mauritius: Guide to Moving to Mauritius

If you are considering a move abroad, relocating to Mauritius offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a high quality of life, stable economy, and relaxed lifestyle. Whether you are retiring, working remotely, moving with your family, or starting a business, moving to Mauritius can be a smooth and rewarding experience—provided you are well-prepared.

How To Relocate To Mauritius

Retirement Permit

If you are over 50, you can apply for a 10-year residence permit by showing a minimum of USD 18,000 in your account in your country of residence or origin. You will then need to show proof of this amount being tranferred to a local bank here every year.

Occupation Permit

The Occupation Permit allows foreign professionals, investors, or self-employed individuals to relocate to Mauritius for work or business:

  • Professional: Minimum monthly salary of MUR 22,500

  • Investor: Investment of at least USD 50,000 in a business

  • Self-Employed: Investment of at least USD 35,000

Residence Permit

Dependents of those on a Retirement Permit and Occupation Permit are eligible for a residence permit. Also, moving to Mauritius through property investment (minimum USD 375,000) grants a residence permit, that is valid as long as the property is owned, leading to permanent residence. Dependents of the property owner are also eligible for a residence permit.

Permanent Residence Permit

This 20-year permit is granted after maintaining a valid Occupation or Residence Permit for at least 3 years and meeting certain income or investment conditions. Alternatively, one can get the Permanent Residence Permit by investing at least USD 375,000 in a qualifying business activity.

Premium Visa

The Premium Visa is ideal for remote workers, retirees and long-stay visitors. It allows you to live in Mauritius for up to 12 months, renewable.
